Since I want this feature too, I might look at it at some point (unless
someone beats me to it).

The 2 options of resize-up and resize-down make sense. For the cap, i
would make this an (invisible) parameter, set to a reasonable value, at
least to begin with. Maybe later, one could look at how to decide the Y
value automatically, but i'm affraid this won't work in every situation
(thus still needing an option to set the cap offset).
