I haven't tried that one, but:
On chrome.pl you have IRC transports to several irc networks. It works like
this:
1. Open Jabber Browser and point it to a server with IRC transport (you may
try jabber.ru, too)
2. Right click on IRC Gateway and choose join
3. As a room name, type #channel_name (remember about the hash)

Alternatively, when you already know what is IRC gateway's address (like
ircnet.chrome.pl), simply choose Join Groupchat from Psi menu and type
gateway's address as the host name.

Note: I don't know what transport is on jabber.ru, but most of Polish
servers use JJIGW transport written by Jajcus, and this transport is in a
very early stage of development.
