At least something configurable in config.xml, because some people won't
be happy with the number :)

I'm not sure the custom ones should be in there. The fact that you didn't
save it as a preset (which is only a matter of checking a checkbox)
means that this message is not something you're going to use a lot.
Although my feelings aren't strong in this case, because we all know how
lazy we are when it comes to saving status presets (i for one type
'lunch' manually each time :)). But maybe this is because i don't like
all the clicking i have to do atm. Another thing is that this requires
more coding. My vote goes to not putting custom messages in there.

I don't like the tree idea. Too much clicks for something you can do a
lot easier.

That's an extra set of configuration parameters, which will make stuff
probably more complicated than it has to be. I don't think we need this.

My point: i'm not proposing replacing the current status change
combobox, i'm suggesting a new combobox for people who want to do stuff
differently. I myself would be satisfied with a combobox with only the
(most-used) presets, plus a custom entry. People who use as much custom
entries as presets could be more satisfied with a combination of the
preset combobox, plus a 'status change' (*) button in the roster. Trying to
fit all these things into one ideal combobox is not possible IMO, and
will make you pay in some way.

(*) The 'status change' button doesn't really exist yet. There are
buttons for each status which open the status set dialog with the
specific status preselected, but there maybe should be a similar button
which opens the status set dialog with the _current_ status and message
preselected, such that you can do minimal changes if you want.

cheers,
