I've spoken with Remko about this and we've reached an agreement to commit
the core avatar stuff to CVS in #ifdefs, to enable you and he to do
centralised
work on it. (I've already committed it)

I'm happy to get the core avatar functions into CVS. The main problem
here is that the avatar standard we'd like to fully support is jep-084,
which requires PubSub suport which we don't have yet. There are other
avatar 'standards' already in use, and I'm happy to have Psi receive
these standards acceptably, but not to actively promote them. So it's
good to get the core avatar functionality into Psi-cvs, but the actual
protocol support will have to wait a while.
