If that happened, history would become a feature which people only go to to 
print messages, instead of merely a screen people never go to because it's so 
unusable. :-)

If you ask me, this feature is a good excuse to have menus on the chat 
windows.  That way, you can at least hide the feature from user's eyes most 
of the time. :-/
