I completely agree.

PBX? You meant IAX? PSTN?

Yes, Johnny Talker isn't limited to pc2pc connectons. I call from my IAX 
account to people with PSTN and it's cheaper then PSTN<->PSTN (even for 
local connections). Not evereone already has VoIP :(

With Johnny Talker even VoiP isn't embeeded inside Psi.
Gateways (PBX) - like Asterisk - realize that functionality, for Psi 
this is indifferent (pc2pc, pc2pstn, pc2mobile, ...).

Don't worry about that. Most popular codecs are available for free for 
any use (like GSM (G.711), iLBC or uLAW). There is also very good (in my 
opinion) open source codec, created by Xiph.Org (yes, people related 
with Ogg, Flac, Theora, ...) - Speex.
I know that there is for example commercial G.729 (that needs really 
narrow bandwith), but Speex is enough for me.

There is already early implementation of video transmision for IAX. But 
I would like to make stable VoIP in Johnny Talker first ;)
