"Grab" is pretty common around here. Grab your shoes, grab your sword,
grab the phone, grab your ankles (that's for the sick minds on this list
:-) ), grab a coke. I'd say it's more common than 'fetch'. I don't know
exactly what the official synonym is for 'grab'.
