Well, i don't think that's entirely true. We just prefer to do
it platform-independent if possible, but otherwise we just create
an interface and implement it on every OS.

I don't think i understand your mail. What are the use cases for what you
want to do ? One of them is opening XMPP urls externally. Are there others ?
Is there a good reason to do it with dbus ? Are there better ways ?
