To be honest, i don't like the idea of an extra set of dependencies just
for that, and especially not if the dependency is an XML parser.
Dont make this 'remote control' thing more than it is (e.g. authentication
is over the top IMO) 
I would just make a simple interace and make OS specific implementations using
the OS's functions instead of adding another layer of abstraction.
