In fact in UI design in general, all options presented to a user should be
"positive" rather than "negative". It just means that the default flips
around.
I suppose people might argue that "Hide" isn't necessarily negative, but I
always find that rewording the option makes it clear which it is. "Hide Menu
Bar" might otherwise be phrased as "Disable Menu Bar", and "Disable" is
certainly negative. :-)
That's the other thing, actually... Menu Bar is two words. But honestly, I
haven't seen the option yet so for all I know, it might already be correct in
this respect. :-)
