Technically yes. kilo- prefix, abbreviated as k, means multiply by 1000.
  Two things:
1. By the time I've heard that joke, there were no information about
prefixes denoting powers of 2 instead of powers of 10.
2. How do you call a multiply of a unit, when that multiply is 2^{10}
times greater than the unit itself? I know that it's abbreviated as Ki
(like KiB).

TIA
