Hi folks,
I'm currently trying out Psi 0.11 beta 4 on my new notebook (now with
Windows again).
Not sure if it's a Qt thing, but the old Psi with Qt3 looks a lot better
on Windows. The toolbar, the status button, all's got a thick 3D border
around it. Even the drop-down area of list boxes has a 3D border (and
this even though I have set Windows to use flat menus as from the Luna
theme). This is definitely not conforming to the rest of the Windows
GUI. Pretty ugly altogether. (Using Windows classic theme.) Screenshots
upon request.
Selecting the Toolbar options from the right-click menu, the options
dialogue opened, with the "Toolbars" category selected. Selecting the
"Application" category didn't unselect the Toolbars cat. Only after
selecting something else again, the selection (highlighting) was
correct. Similar thing for the service icons: ICQ, MSN and all these
have an iconset assigned in the listbox, but selecting it doesn't
highlight the appropriate (or any) iconset from the list to the right.
When I started Psi, the group headings had no separator line but a light
grey background. Then I tried out the options "Appearance", "Misc.",
"Outline headings" and "Slim group headings". Both were deselected
initially. As soon as I changed something about that, the group headers
got a line and the background is white, just as the rest of the roster.
And there's no way to change it back, no matter how I set these options.
-- Wait, it does revert to the original appearance, but only if I
fullscreen another window and then switch back to Psi (forcing it to
redraw its window) - pay attention to Windows Vista, windows won't be
redrawing themselves anymore, Windows can remember their contents then!
(Hence the great graphics memory requirements...) I guess restarting Psi
would have helped, too.
My ThinkPad scrolling software cannot scroll through Psi's listboxes.
The scrolling icon appears as soon as I press the middle mouse button,
but it can't scroll with the TrackPoint then. Must be because Qt draws
every piece of a window itself, not caring about something like Windows
controls etc. (Just like bad old Java does... or did?)
Disabling and re-enabling the "Show contacts" toolbar makes the Psi
roster window jump up out of the screen. (Having auto-resize enabled,
all groups expanded (initial setting) and a lot of contacts.) Well,
let's see how I get it back into movable view again...
(Okay, resizing the window horizontally brought it back into view a
little more, that helped.)
What's that "Publish tune" thing about? Doesn't show my Winamp song in
the status message.
Applying contacts' colours only works after restarting Psi. (Or maybe
also after redrawing the window, as mentioned above?)
Well, that's a lot for now. Haven't been checking into current Psi
builds for a while... Hope that helps to find some glitches before
declaring it a "stable beta" release. ;)
