Well, you don't get the same IP if you take to long to reconnect, but
if your server (or intelligent?) is quick it seems that you can. I'm
using a linux server with ppp and pppoe, and giving pppoe the HUP from
the scheduled task. You probably find that ppp is requesting the old
IP address when it reconnects, and assuming it hasn't been taken it's
allowed.
This is not the same as killing ppp and restarting it. I bet I'd get
a new IP address then.
