Thanks, looks good.
Doing this (a common base class for tabbable things), was to be my  
first step in the tab rewrite, so it saves some effort :)
I'll probably do some massaging of the patch, and include it in 0.12.
I think you're aware that there's a segfault in the code at the  
moment, which will probably need to be removed ;)
