So we know this stuff but always good to be reminded of what a new
user thinks. This user btw is Helmar of Qunu fame.
[12:41:31] <Helmar> On the menu, Log-on and Log off should never be
shown at the same time
[12:41:46] <Helmar> and if there's a shortcut for Log on, there should
be one for Log off too
[12:41:50] <Helmar> just a quick rant
[12:43:37] <Helmar> never is never, so I always want to see it and I
want instant access to those messages, not just via Ctrl-H. In Sonork
I had instant access to 70.000 messages I had exchanged with my
colleague Bob over 4 years
[12:44:33] <Helmar> and quickly back to the reply mode
[12:44:49] <Helmar> in Sonork you could rightclick a message, then say
'highlight conversation thread'
[12:44:55] <halr9000> now ctrl-h gets you to history..the messages
will always be there if its enabled (which is on by default)
[12:45:39] <Helmar> and all the messages in one thread would be shown
with a yellow background, easy to pick out from the other chatter. and
with a DnD I could drop them onto another user with absolute ease and
without that person reading all the other stuff
[12:45:56] <Helmar> unfortunately the way the history works is not
exactly friendly, IMO
[12:50:45] <Helmar> I also question the 'username' thing between the
other person's name and the emoticon button
[12:51:29] <Helmar> plus, the 'other person's name" is shown in the
same style as the text input and the history, although only the text
input allows the inputting of text. THe top name is not editable and
should therefore shown differently
[12:51:45] <Helmar> perhaps without a border around it and on the same
background
[12:52:28] <Helmar> And if you run tabs, there's also a name
duplication between the tab text and the text of the person's name and
JID
[12:52:54] <halr9000> i use compact m ode which turns off the username
and emoticon button entirely
[12:53:16] <Helmar> and if you toggle the compact/full size, there is
no UI element to get it back to the other state
[12:53:26] <halr9000> there is
[12:53:33] <halr9000> but it's hidden. which is bad
[12:53:35] <halr9000> i know
[12:53:37] <Helmar> lol
[12:53:38] <Helmar> hehe
[12:53:43] <Helmar> there is, but it's hidden.
[12:53:46] <halr9000> there's a small area you can right-click
[12:53:46] <Helmar> ROFL
[12:53:55] <Helmar> found it
[12:53:58] <Helmar> obscure
[12:53:59] <halr9000> due to a QT flaw it's awkward
[12:54:00] <Helmar> too obscure
