[Psi-devel] Usability: DND status vs. Play Sound Button

Hi.
I'm using Psi-0.11 RC1 and switched over from the heavily patched 0.9.3 gentoo
version.
After the transition I noticed that the sound seemed to stop working some
times. I now traced the problem down to the DND mode. Somewhere between 0.9.3
and 0.11 RC1 it had it's sound semantics changed. Playing no sound in DND
seems somehow logical, but:
I guess I'm not the only one who primarily uses the "Play sound" toolbar
button to switch on/off the sound, and I for one was a little bit puzzled by
that behaviour change. I therefore suggest the following usability
enhancement:
When in DND mode, switch off and grey out the "Play sounds" button in the
toolbar, so people know that there's no sound in DND.
Also, If you have the toolbar button, it's somehow contradictory to force
people to have sound switched off in DND. I therefore suggest to revive
the "Enable sounds in DND"-Checkbox in the options dialog.
I would also go a step further and suggest the following:
In your "presence templates", you now not only store the status message, but
also the status itself. Why not also store the sound on/off setting in the
template? This would be very practical for situations like when I'm going to
sleep and put my N/A "zzzZZZzzz" status message in and psi automatically
switches the sounds off...
What do you think about it?
If there are prospects of getting any of these changes into the official
version I'd also be willing to implement that myself, but atm I can't even
build psi, because I can't get QCA2 to work properly.
/Wolfgang
