In official releases of Psi prior to Psi-0.11 test releases - no.
Psi-0.11-test1 was the first one to include it.

There were at least two different patch lines that did that. The first
one was introduced in long time abandoned Psi-SkZ private build made by
Jacek Konieczny (Skazi), the other appeared in other private build
called Psi-pedrito.

We have considered this for a long time and we are proud to inform you
that Psi-0.11-RC1 has status messages in roster, and final Psi-0.11 will
have them too.

Please take a look at toolbar button configuration
(Psi|Options|Toolbars). Among the available toolbar buttons there is one
named "Show Status Messages". If you add it to your toolbar, then you
will be able to switch on and off the display of status messages in your
roster.

If you are not happy with default setup (status messages on the same
line of the contact's display name), you can alter this behaviour by
editing options.xml file (Psi should not be running by that time), which
is located in the same directory as config.xml file (see
http://psi-im.org/wiki/Configuration_File article in Psi Wiki for
details). The options.xml is an XML file (as the name suggests); you are
looking for <single-line> tag (it's inside the
<options><options><ui><contact-list><status-messages> tag).

Please note, however, that on some occasions status messages below the
contact's display names cause some visual bugs that we're still trying
to resolve. There is no configuration for the style the status messages
are displayed yet, but it may become available after Psi-0.11 release.
