The character input lag can happen across the board, yes (although  
nothing suffer from it to the extent that Qt does; it's very rare on  
my mbp to notice it elsewhere, whereas I notice it in Qt frequently),  
but the dropping characters doesn't (at least for me), even on my old  
powerbook.
