I've experienced the problem before. In early Qt4 versions there were
numerous bugs related to text input on Mac OS X. Sluggish text input
speed and lost keystrokes. I think I haven't lost keystrokes for a
long enough time, but slow input speed just happens sometimes (and in
native applications too), when machine is on heavy load.

What's your load average when this happens? (One possible way to view
it is to use 'uptime' console command)
