This may be a Qt library issue.

I haven't observed such a behaviour on my system. It may be either
operating system specific, or a bug in Qt library.

I cannot replicate that. Psi button (the one with "trident"/"psi
letter", which opens the main Psi menu) seems to have a minimal
horizontal size. However, status button (the one which allows to select
a new status) may become a little too small (left and right "arms" of
the star end on the very edge of the button or 1 pixel outside of it -
it's hard to say for sure as both have dark edges).

I'm running September 16, 2007 development snapshot, compiled with MinGW
3.4.2 (gcc/g++-3.4.2 port) against Qt-4.2.3, on Windows XP.

Anyway: which Psi version do you use, on what system/window manager,
which Qt library version do you use?
