This was supposed to be a really great idea, but clearly it's causing
serious regressions.
My current idea then is to make the search bar only appear on hotkey
(I guess a default of / or C-f would be sensible), and that the
original search method is re-instated. This should stop all the
accidental triggers, and still allow easy searching.
