[Psi-Devel] was snarl on anyone's radar?

The eternal question remains: plugin or not a plugin. Would it be
enough to create an abstract interface to notification, and providing
sensible implementations on all platforms, or do we want it as a
plugin? I guess the main advantage of a plugin is that we don't have
to choose a sensible alternative for the platform, and that there can
be multiple. The disadvantage is that it's a plugin, and that plugins
need to be downloaded/installed/enabled/..., including all the
incompatibility problems when people upgrade Psi ,... The downloading
can be avoided by shipping Psi with a whole bunch of plugins, but then
again, what's the use of leaving such core implementation stuff as a
plugin if you're going to ship it with Psi anyway?

cheers,
