i use 'tab-twice' method :)
but selection on contact in list could be moving while seaching ... and end up 
on the first match

i think it could be good to do same action on enter as in normal 
(nonsearching) contactlist ... (eg. open chat window etc)

and if i could say little more ... when i clear the search field (backspace, 
+ctrl opt.), search fields disappear (good) and then focus jumps 'down' to 
the status selection button and i cant start new search until i move focus to 
contact list ... better to return focus to contact list imho
