The first version of Psi was released 10 years ago yesterday.

For fun, I looked up the original note on Jabber Central:

0.59 Released On June 29, 2001

Initial release. Main features are present: Login, Create account, Statuses,
Contact list, Groups, multi-window Chat, Add/Rename/Remove contacts,
Subscription/Authorization. No transports and no message history yet. Archive
includes compiled binary since Qt3.0 is not mainstream (and won't be for some
time).

And here's some choice quotes from my website way back then:

"My goal is to make an ICQ replacement, since many people would testify that
ICQ is the best of the current IM crop. However we must come to realize that
it is the application we like, not the network. ICQ has got to go, just like
all other proprietary IM systems."

"Completely written in C++ using Qt, Psi will be the first non-Java
crossplatform Jabber client. This may help with Jabber's acceptance."

Wow, those were the days.

Enjoy Psi (or "Have fun", as I used to say).

Justin
